Kampala — Frank
"Video" Anyau believes Al Khartoum's 1-0 first leg loss to SC Villa
represents a dangerous proposition for his side ahead of tomorrow's
preliminary Caf Confederation Cup return leg at Nakivubo.
"Having lost at
home I know from experience that Al Khartoum will approach the game with
the mentality of nothing to lose," Anyau who boasts of more than two
decades of coaching experience reasoned.
"That makes it very
dangerous for us. We have been drumming it in their heads to understand
that the tie is clearly not yet decided," he further explained.
Villa find
themselves in a similar situation to 2003 when they picked up a 2-1first
leg win in Angola against AS Aviacao before going on to be ejected 3-2
on aggregate after losing 2-0 at home.
Anyau is expected
to sit on the Villa bench and replaced Ibrahim Kirya, who lacks the
minimum Caf 'B' coaching license to handle teams in continental
competition as head coach.
The coaching
department will however again have to make do without Yeseri Waibi and
Dennis Kamanzi who are without passports while striker Karim Ndugwa's
move from Kenya's AFC Leopards has not yet been ratified by Caf.
Uganda's other representatives Vipers departed for Nigeria yesterday for their match against Enyimba on Sunday.
