Real Madrid kisses La Liga, Barcelona good bye with loss to Atletico

Real Madrid can pretty much kiss any chance of winning La Liga good bye. Cristiano Ronaldo and company put on a poor display on Saturday, falling to Atletico Madrid at home in the Madrid Derby 1-0. It was Antoine Griezmann's goal early in the second half that sealed it.
With the result, Real Madrid is nine points behind Barcelona for the top spot in the league. If Barca beats Sevilla on Sunday, that advantage would push to 12 points with 12 matchdays remaining.
But it gets worse. Dejected Real Madrid fans chanted late in the match for president Florentino Perez to resign, screaming "Florentino dimision," as they were upset with the result, the Copa del Rey exit, league form and more in what's been a rocky 2015-16, which also included manager Rafa Benitez being fired. Check it out.

Not a good day for those in Madrid who support Real. However, it was a great day for the Atletico side of the city, with Simeone's team now the only remaining challenger for Barcelona in the title race. Real Madrid's only remaining hope for glory this season is still significant, however, with the club still alive and well in the Champions League.
