CAF Confederation Cup First Round Bidvest Wits vs Azam FC

Bidvest Wits fell to a 3-0 defeat to Azam FC in their first leg CAF Confederation Cup first round tie at the Bidvest Stadium on Saturday evening.

The Tanzanian side grabbed three goals in 10 minutes to punish a youthful Clever Boys outfit, who squandered numerous chances throughout the match.
Salum Abubakar opened the scoring in the 51st minute with a well-hit long range effort, after collecting Wits' clearance from a corner.
Six minutes later Shomari Kapombe doubled the visitors' lead as he pounced on a careless back-pass from Tebogo Moerane to Jethren Barr.
On the hour mark, Azam captain John Bocco did well to bang home from an acute angle, when poor marking allowed him to be played in at the back-post.
Line-ups:
Bidvest Wits XI: Barr, Nhlapo, Khumalo, Lecki, Sheppard, Bhasera, Motshwari, Mosiatlhaga, Moerane, Pule, Lupeta.
