Camaldine Abraw: Kaizer Chiefs ready for Soweto Derby with Orlando Pirates in Nedbank Cup

Kaizer Chiefs forward Camaldine Abraw has acknowledged the heavy stakes ahead of their awkward Nedbank Cup first round meeting against Orlando Pirates but reveals that they are well prepared.

Such is the inconvenience of the Soweto Derby being played out as a first round tie that interest in this competition will definitely be diluted as soon as one of these two is knocked out on Saturday which makes it rather uncomfortable for the sponsors and the fans alike.
However, with the draw having pitted these two bulls to be in the same kraal it means Saturday’s match at FNB Stadium (15h00) will be no pillow fight as it must produce a winner on the day.
“It is a big game,” Abraw tells KickOff.com nodding his head in agreement about the magnitude of Saturday’s match which will yet again bring in a huge crowd to the NASREC venue.

“We know that it is not going to be easy but we have been preparing well for it during this week so we will be ready for the win so that we move forward.”
In as much as they have enjoyed success in cup competitions through the years Chiefs have this season felt the anguish and harshness of what knockout football means, losing in both the finals of the MTN8 and Telkom Knockout Cup.
With fellow rivals looking likely to wrestle away the league title from Amakhosi it leaves the Nedbank Cup as the only piece of silverware available to be won by the time this domestic campaign ends in May.
That is just how dicey the situation is for Chiefs as they square off with The Bucs – who are in similar standing as they are also seeking to rescue their season by doing well in this competition.
