Chelsea eye summer transfer of Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi with Diego Costa's future in doubt

The 23-year-old is likely to leave if his Italian side miss out on the Champions League, with the Blues compensating if they do so too with higher wages
Chelsea are eyeing a summer move for Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi.
The 23-year-old Argentina star’s future at the San Siro is likely to rest on whether or not the club qualify for the Champions League next season, although Chelsea are unlikely to be able to offer that either.

However, if he does decide to quit Italy then the wages on offer at Stamford Bridge could more than compensate for what, potentially, would only be one season out of Europe’s top cup competition.
Chelsea are desperate to add to their firepower and are running the rule over several targets.
They are on the lookout for at least one new striker although Diego Costa’s long-term future at the club remains uncertain and, should he leave, then a minimum of two forwards will be sought.
The Brazil-born Spain international has been widely linked with a return to his former club Atletico Madrid this season, although his form has improved greatly since Mourinho’s departure and Guus Hiddink’s arrival.

Reports in Italy suggest Conte is confident of agreeing a three-year contract at Chelsea and that he will leave his role as national team manager after Euro 2016.
But Sunday Mirror Sport understands Blues owner Roman Abramovich is still weighing up his options.
