Serie A rejects Viola appeal on Zarate

Serie A disciplinary officials on Wednesday rejected an appeal by Fiorentina to reduce Mauro Zarate's three-match league ban for violent conduct.
Zarate was one of three players sent off in a trouble-hit finish to Fiorentina's 2-1 win over Inter Milan two weeks ago, when the Argentinian was shown a straight red card for grabbing Jeison Murillo by the neck in the closing minutes.
The former West Ham forward has since sat out a 3-2 win at Atalanta and a 1-1 draw with Napoli and he will now miss Friday's clash at Champions League qualification rivals Roma after the Florence's club's appeal was rejected.

"Fiorentina's appeal to have Mauro Zarate's suspension reduced has been rejected," said a short statement from league chiefs.
It is not the first time Zarate, who recently joined the Florence club from West Ham, has fallen foul of ill discipline.
He was fined 500,000 euros by former club Lazio when he flew his family to the Maldives for a holiday after telling the club he had flown to Argentina for treatment on a skin condition.
He then returned to Argentina, where he signed for Velez Sarsfield despite still being under contract with Lazio. After a complaint by the Italian club, FIFA ruled Zarate and Velez were liable to share the costs of more than five millions euros in compensation.
Roma and Fiorentina are among several clubs looking to finish among the top three and clinch a spot in next season's Champions League.
Champions Juventus sit top on 61 points with a three-point lead on Napoli, while Roma and Fiorentina have 53 in third and fourth places respectively.
Inter Milan are five points further behind, with city rivals AC Milan only one point behind them in sixth.
